A very interesting short film, i beleive it felt like it would be entertaining to a younger audience (8-14yrs) while at the same time educational. The short film dealt with aspects from that period of life well from illness to bullying and presented positive ways of dealing with them and accepting they are a fact of life. I would prefer to see entertaining films like this that deal with REAL world things in a realistic way, rather than other videos of this type that deal with them in an unrealistic fashion.
5 out of 5, targeted for a younger audience than myself being 26 and from the UK, but still entertaining.
Good work guys! It's funny and cute. I enjoyed it. I noticed the Ninja Turtles bag the little boy was carrying, I had that when I was young, almost forgot about it hehe...
Hey, I still remember Raihan tellin' us how he would make a film Sunat, with this and that, go to next scene etc, back in our NS days....man, thats a long time to complete and for me to wait, but its all worth it! A pleasant light-hearted short with cameo appearances!
hi merv, long time no see nor hear from you. anyways, the scenes shot from inside the sarong appeals to me the most. gives me a feeling of 'warmth'. great masterpiece, keep the good works coming!
this is amazing-what I loved most were the expressions worn by the crew. It sure injects an element of humor, and I am certainly more enlightened about the entire process now. bravo!
Great job!! Where do I sign up to request that Raihan resumes his role of the creepy uncle in the next film? Merv, my b*tch.. *sob* i'mmmm so proud of you.
transport supervisor reporting in ! lol .. thanks papahan and mervyn ask duckie, for letting me be a part (small part though :) of this fantastico - bailamos film. Rock on buddies ~
Sunat was the one film that I have always wanted to make...and never got around to making it.
It took me -- at last count -- 5 years, 10 producers, 3 false starts and 2 years of National Service before I finally shouted "Action!" for the first shot of the film.
Suddenly Sunat stopped being a dream. Suddenly, Sunat became a reality. It became my next short film...
I had a blast making Sunat with my best friends, the greatest crew and my family.
I love Sunat to bits.
I hope you do too.

synopsis.
Singapore. The early nineties. A young malay boy is forced to go through Sunat (circumcision) in order to become a man.
An autobiographical comedy by M. Raihan Halim, Sunat is about growing up, becoming a man and how sometimes things may not happen like we planned but they can still work out anyway...
